What is NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)?
We've all said to ourselves "I'm not going to react like that next time I'm in that situation", but as you well know, you end up doing the same thing you said you wouldn't do. Think of it like that old LP vinyl record, your brain automatically goes to the same track when faced with the same situation, however that track mightn't be the best track for you any longer! Using NLP, we write a more resourceful, useful track so that your brain goes to that track instead, resulting in a more beneficial outcome for you.
NLP explores the relationship between how we think (neuro), how we communicate verbally and non-verbally (linguistic) and our patterns of behaviour and emotion (programming). Although well grounded in psychological theory and research, NLP is first and foremost about the ability to change your patterns of behaviour and creating more resourceful beliefs. NLP differs from hypnosis in that you are not in trance, it is therefore a more active therapy using visualisation, dialogue and sometimes movement.
During your session, we will explore your different patterns of behaviour, what is working for you and what isn't and what it is you would like to achieve. I then use the tools that NLP provides to create more beneficial patterns for you to live from. Sometimes I combine hypnosis and NLP therapies for the benefit of the client.
NLP is fascinating: How do we do what we do? How do we think? How do we learn? How do we get angry? How do outstanding people in any field get their results? What and how we think affect our physiology, and our physical health and well being affect our thoughts.
Our mind, body and spirit meet in our beliefs. What we believe deeply affects what we think and how we act. NLP sees beliefs not in terms of true or false, but in terms of useful or not useful. What are the consequences of your beliefs? What actions flow from them? How well do your beliefs serve you?
